Books I DNF'd This Year And Why
As the year is almost at its end, I decided to go back and see just what I’d read throughout the year.
Of the 29 books I’ve started I’ve finished 26. These are the three I didn’t finish and why.
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley
This was one I was really looking forward to. So many people had said that this was a really good book and from what I managed to read I would have to agree.
However as someone who suffered from dyslexia the writing style was so hard to read. Of course with this book being written 1818 it makes sense that this is how it was written,
but I found it so slow going. That doesn’t mean I won’t get round to finishing it, but I think to do so will have to be with an audio book.
Demon road - Derek Landy
I read about half the book and what I did read I really enjoyed the story. It is very different from the skulduggery pleasant series of his and its defiantly right in my Wheel house of fantasy books.
Infinity Alchemist - Karen Callender
With the plot steeped in forbidden Magic, fantasy and adventure this books should have been right up my alley. And from the first 4 chapters I managed to get through it properly would have been if it wasn't for one main issue I had with it.It was so hard for me to follow only with who it was that the book was focusing on. With one of the main characters non-binary and with them switching pronouns every other chapter I must have re-read those chapters 2/3 times to try and figure it out.
I have no issues with this but as someone who struggles to read this was very confusing.
